Santa Fe Recovery Center Tapped to Launch Behavioral Health Clinic

Transformative Program Provides Full Range of Services, Lowers Barriers to Critical Care

Santa Fe, NM — Santa Fe Recovery Center (SFRC) is proud to announce the designations of its centers in both Santa Fe and Gallup as Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC) by the New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) and the Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD). The national CCBHC program starts January 1, 2025.

SFRC met rigorous criteria to provide a comprehensive range of high-quality mental health, substance use, and primary care screening services to all New Mexicans seeking care regardless of insurance or ability to pay. This achievement marks a significant milestone in SFRC’s ongoing commitment to providing outstanding mental health and substance use treatment services across Santa Fe and McKinley Counties.

“Becoming a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) allows us to provide more people than ever with comprehensive mental health and substance use treatment services,” said Stacy Martin, CEO of SFRC. “We’re proud to collaborate with New Mexico’s HCA on this critical initiative to ensure expanded access to care for our community.”

Nationally, CCBHCs have proven successful in expanding care access, reducing wait times, and bolstering the behavioral health workforce. Key features of the CCBHC model include a “nowrong-door” approach ensuring access for everyone, with services available to children, youth, and adults, regardless of their ability to pay, and evidence-based treatments that emphasize quality, timeliness, and coordination across care teams.

Another important component of a CCBHC is the requirement to provide access to 24/7 crisis services. SFRC opened its crisis center in Gallup in November with plans to add a mobile crisis component in the coming months.

The CCBHC initiative is part of a four-year Medicaid Demonstration program led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

“We’re honored to be chosen as one of New Mexico’s first CCBHCs. This certification signifies a tremendous vote of confidence in our mission and bolsters our ability to provide integrated mental health care alongside addiction services throughout the region,” said Martin.

Santa Fe Recovery Center was certified as a CCBHC in Santa Fe and McKinley County by New Mexico’s HCA and CYFD, following a site visit and review of readiness to implement the CCBHC model.

About Santa Fe Recovery Center Santa Fe Recovery Center

(SFRC) is a non-profit, CARF-accredited (Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) substance use disorder (SUD) treatment center operating in Santa Fe and Gallup, NM. SFRC was established in 2005 to respond to the long-existing problem of substance use plaguing Northern New Mexico. SFRC provides detoxification, residential treatment, regular and intensive outpatient treatment, and medication-assisted treatment. In 2020, at the request of the State of New Mexico Department of Health and the New Mexico Human Services Department, Santa Fe Recovery Center was tapped to fill the void in evidence-based SUD treatment options in McKinley County in an effort to help eliminate gaping health disparities in this rural, underserved community. Shortly thereafter, Four Corners Detox Recovery Center (FCDRC) was established in Gallup, NM.
